I saw on facebook the other day a great picture of a jar that said '365 quotes' and I thought what a great idea. Although rather than quotes, how about affirmations. So I went out and bought a jar, and set about filling it with affirmations. This was a much larger task than I first realised. Firstly, I want to use this jar with my children so I had to write affirmations that would be appropriate to them. Secondly I thought I would start with maybe 150 affirmations. These I have taken from Dr Wayne Dyer, Louise Hay, Cheryl Richardson and other people who inspire me. After writing them all … [Read more...]
The Help by Kathryn Stockett
I am yet to see the movie of this book, although I was interested to watch all the hype around the film during the Oscars. At that time I heard an alarming fact - apparently this book was declined by 60 publishers before finally getting published. 60. That's amazing. Could the publishers not read? I read The Help while in hospital for surgery on my ankle. I was therefore a captive audience and able to give it my full attention. Unfortunately, as I had nothing else to do, I read this book in two days because I simply could not put it down. Luckily I was in a room on my own as when the pain woke … [Read more...]
Miracle Box
I was listening to Denise Linn on her radio show Soul Coaching which is broadcast on hayhouseradio.com. I download the podcasts because of the time difference between the US and New Zealand, and I have to admit it has been a while since I listened to these particular shows, so this one was from December last year. During the show Denise suggested making a Miracle Box for the start of the year ahead, and it really struck me as a great idea. Here are her instructions: First of all, find yourself a box. Write all over the box the word 'thankyou', and make sure that you feel it. For this exercise … [Read more...]
Manifesting with the Angels
Yesterday afternoon, while the children were happily entertaining themselves and the sun was pouring through my bedroom window I allowed myself half an hour of 'me time'. I sat on my bed and started to read A Course In Miracles. I have to admit that for me it is a 'time and place' read. By that I mean that it does not always read easily and fluidly and yesterday afternoon I could not fight the heaviness of my eyelids and realised that I was not taking in everything that I was reading. So, that wasn't going to work. Instead I looked through my phone to see what audio I had saved and felt inspired … [Read more...]
Just feeling tired…
I have woken this morning extremely tired, and a little grumpy. Since starting my lessons from A Course In Miracles on Monday I have not been sleeping well. I have been dreaming a lot and been very restless. I can rationalise to myself that it is because of all the processing that my brain is doing while working through the Lessons. I can also make excuses like my husband waking me at 5 this morning to go to work, and my sense of frustration that this is now the 4th weekend in a row that he is working and he is booked to work next weekend as well. And I'm on a diet so I'm starving! I always get … [Read more...]
