I am so excited!  It is Mothers Day 2012 on Sunday - 6 years to the day Mothers Online went live with a flurry of activity and a very different online world!  It was before Facebook, it was before any other Mother dedicated website in NZ and it was certainly before "social media", twitter, linkedin, reddit, diggit and ALL the other manners in which we can connect online now! I had a dream that new Mums would be able to sit at home in their pjs if they wanted, without makeup, without judgment, without a need to be anyone or anything other than themselves AND meet likeminded Mums who felt the … [Read more...]

Celebrating Mums

There is no one way to celebrate Mother’s Day, but theoretically it is a day when Mum gets to relax and be pampered, a recognition for all of the things she does for family all through the year. Some people, including myself, think Mother’s Day is just another opportunity for retailers to cash in, but Mother’s Day was celebrated around the world long before the commercial aspect arrived. I am struggling…….. Here I am, sitting in the place I call my “soul home”, and that I’ve always found so much comfort in, and I…..AM…….struggling….. Since the day we arrived, it has been the land of fast forward, nothing like the inner peace I have found over the past few years, and I am struggling to maintain it. Admittedly, I actually have a pretty good strike rate considering the amount of time I’ve been back.  I found a villa after being here for only 4 days, spent the last few weeks getting the girls into school (a logistical nightmare, but need to just be grateful … [Read more...]
