Squeezing it in! week 2 – 2012

IMG_0463

I have to admit I am feeling a little sorry for myself right now!  I want to write you a big long list of all the things I have achieved in the last 7 days and have to achieve in the next 3 days before I head away to the beach again. I want to have a "Poor Minka" moment!  I want to tell you how no one appreciates me, how my children barely even like me at the moment and how horrible dinner time was tonight when everyone just ended up yelling at each other!  But hey, what would be the point in that!?! It's Sunday after a massive week, and I have spent the entire day in my PJ's!  A day in … [Read more...]

Books and movies of books

Kevin poster

Ok, I know that's it's not time yet for the first book review, but I was inspired by something a friend of mine posted on Facebook. He posted the advert for the film of the book We Need To Talk About Kevin. Have you read that book? I found it fascinating, harrowing and a great conversation piece. Essentially it is all about the question of nature versus nurture, and an interesting take on perspective, as we only know what the author tells us, which of course is totally subjective. But I am getting off the point. It made me think about all the great books there are that have been turned into movies. … [Read more...]

Happy Health Year! week one 2012

Sandy Bay

So, I've left it to the very end of the week to write my first blog post of the New Year. I promised myself (and others) that this year I was going to finally write a regular blog on transforming the lives of myself and my family from the usual busy, time poor, supermarket dependant, chemical and additive soaked lifestyles that we have just "fallen upon" into consciously healthy lives in which we are aware of what is going into our heads, our mouths, on our skin and in our environments.  I'm hoping now you can see why I have left this post until the last day of the first full week in 2012!?!  I … [Read more...]

3-woman-reading

I love reading. I love the escape, the imagination and I love the learning and exploration that can be gleaned from the pages of a book. And I love that it is for me. Of course, how to fit in any 'me' time is always a juggle. Most nights by the time I climb into bed I am barely past the first paragraph before my eyelids grow heavy and I have to admit defeat and go to sleep. But one of the things I enjoy most about reading is being able to talk about the book that I have just read. Whether it is fiction, fact, self-help or educational there is always something to be learnt from trying to express … [Read more...]

Happy New Year

new year beach

Welcome to 2012! This last year has been so busy for me, so full of change, moving country, resettling and rediscovering what I want for life, that I am so looking forward to 2012. This year, for me, is about 'bedding in': I look forward to finding a house, a home to live in. I look forward to seeing my children settled in school, achieving well and making friends, and I look forward to my own personal journey. This year I intend to allow myself to focus a little more on me: establishing friendships whether they be reconnecting with old friends or making new ones, getting involved in activities … [Read more...]
